Academics at Advent

We believe that academic success means helping children to grow mentally, physically, spiritually and socially.   We are more than a school; we are an educational ministry of Advent Lutheran Church. We are more than administrators, teachers and staff; we are God’s ministers. Our students are God’s children, our parents are our partners, and our school is a Christian community. We do not simply teach by words, we instruct by example. We do not have classes, we have learning communities growing in wisdom and grace. Our curriculum is not just for the mind and body; it is for the heart and soul.  Our students learn the facts and the values they will need to succeed. Our students do not only pass tests, they are prepared for the tests of life. Our students do not graduate, they are sent to love and bless the world.

Curriculum

Advent Early Childhood School offers accredited programs with focus on age-appropriate skills and centers of discovery.   Our curriculum includes physical education, music, Spanish, computer, and early literacy classes. Extracurricular programs including creative movement, children's fitness, and karate for 3-4 year olds are taught at the Advent Life Enrichment Center.

Advent Lutheran Elementary and Middle School's curriculum meets and/or exceeds the State requirements and is based on Florida's Sunshine State Standards.  Based on individual student mastery, the progression assures readiness for Honors and Advance Placement classes at the high school level.  Our curriculum includes Christian education, language arts, literature/reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, Spanish, music, art, computer instruction, and physical education.  Students are given the opportunity to earn high school credit in Algebra and Geometry.

Accreditation
Advent Lutheran School is accredited through the Florida-Georgia District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  All of our elementary and middle school teachers maintain teaching excellence through in-service training, workshops and continuing education courses.
