Advent's prekindergarten program is designed to lay the foundation for a successful kindergarten experience with the specific expectations of Advent's kindergarten program in mind.  Children must be four years old on or before September 1, and able to use the toilet independently.

Our classroom setting has a variety of schedules.  Classroom activities focus, as always, on age appropriate, process not product experiences.  Letters and numbers are taught using and multi-sensory activities to provide opportunities for children to engage in learning in a variety of ways. Science experiments and social studies units prepare students for our kindergarten curriculum.  Children continue to develop social skills as they talk with classmates to share information, resolve situations and work together on group projects.  Language and vocabulary development is again stressed on this level with songs, games and finger plays.

The daily schedule includes "circle time," small group time, art experiences, story time, stories from the Bible, indoor and outdoor play time.  Specialty classes include music, physical education, Spanish, computer, lively arts, and emergent reader classes for full day students.  Prekindergarten children attend Chapel every Friday.  The prekindergarten year ends with a celebration of the special time we have shared with the children.

Parents supply lunch for their prekindergarten children.  Hot lunch is available at an additional cost.

Mrs. Pam Reagh, department head for the prekindergarten program since 2002, is available to meet with parents to discuss the program.  Please contact our office at 561-395-3631 x4 to learn more about our prekindergarten program.
